Pink Baby Tote Bag | Clothing | Hospital/House | Baby Couture, designs are nice and sturdy. But you can buy any brand as long as there would be comfortable compartments for baby stuffs. |
Tiesides | Clothing | Hospital/House | Buy only enough since baby will outgrow this in as little as 2 weeks. |
Overalls | Clothing | Hospital/House | Overalls (clothes covering almost all parts except the face) are good for going out especially in cold weather. |
Socks/Booties | Clothing | Hospital/House | Baby tends to kick much all of the time so it is better to buy a little feet-hugging booties. Darlington have cute little booties with different designs that could be matched to little one's clothes. |
Mittens | Clothing | Hospital/House | Buy lots of mittens as babies tend to overuse this garment. Best mittens are from St. Patrick's, doesn't easily drop from baby's active hands. |
Baby Caps (Beanie) | Clothing | Hospital/House | These are important especially when we transport baby from the hospital. These are protection to baby's fontanelles (the soft spot in their heads) since they are most susceptible to colds due to the weather. Best beanies are from St. Patrick's and Little Wishes (you can buy these in SM and leading department stores). |
Pajamas | Clothing | Hospital/House | Good for cold weather. No particular brand. |
Shorts | Clothing | Hospital/House | During summer, it is best that babies should be comfortable as possible. Shorts are recommended instead of pajamas. |
Bibs | Clothing | Hospital/House | Babies usually salivate and spit up milk, so these cute little bibs are made for that purpose. Do not tighten the bib as these might strangle the baby. |
Alcohol (Isopropyl) | Disinfectant | Hospital/House | According to my MIL, this is used for cleaning of the navel (pusod). This is also good for instant disinfection since babies are more sensitive to germs. |
Changing Mat | Bathing/Changing | House | The mat will be used during changing of diaper. You can purchase the bubble air-filled changing mat for easy washing and drying. |
Cotton Buds | Bathing/Changing | House | Buy
the tiny cotton buds. Best brand Farlin (you can buy in leading supermarkets) |
Nappy Cotton Wipes | Bathing/Changing | House | This is just a tip. We buy cotton from the supermarket and cut it down into squares. We usually wet the cotton and use it as baby wipes. Much affordable and much better than baby wipes. |
Nappy Wipes (Wet) | Bathing/Changing | House | These
are only intended for traveling, going to pedia etc. Sometimes, this is
already included in the baby kit provided by the hospital during
delivery. Best brand: Giggles. |
Bubble Bath/Soap | Bathing/Changing | House | Baby's
skin are the most sensitive so you must buy only the smallest bottle of size
of baby wash or soap for trial use. This is also already included in the baby
kit provided by the hospital during delivery. Best brand for baby wash: Cetaphil Best soap: Oilatum |
Hairbrush | Bathing/Changing | House | Buy a brush with the softest bristles. No particular brand. |
Nail clippers | Bathing/Changing | House | Baby's
hands are the tiniest and clipping them is like handling an expensive china.
You can never go wrong or else you suffer guilt at its highest. Best brand: Safety 1st |
Bath Towel | Bathing/Changing | House | Best towel: Made of microfiber |
Face Cloth/Washcloth | Bathing/Changing | House | These are also one of the most overused garment. I bought microfiber wash cloths good for wiping away just anything, from baby's saliva, spit milk, dirt etc. |
Anti-allergen Cream | Bathing/Changing | House | Baby
usually develop rashes in unexposed areas and skin folds Best brand: Drapolene, Desitin |
Lampin/Cloth | Bathing/Changing | House | These are used as baby blankets and cover. Soft lampins made of 100% cotton would be comforting to babies. |
Receiving blanket | Bathing/Changing | Hospital/House | The receiving blankets are used during delivery and going out of the hospital. This is used to swaddle babies. 100% cotton-made receiving blankets would be cozy. |
Disposable Diapers | Bathing/Changing | Hospital/House | Disposable
diapers are good especially during going out. Best brand: Prokids/Huggies |
Diaper Organizer | Bathing/Changing | House | This is only nice-to-have |
Baby Oil | Bathing/Changing | Hospital/House | Oils
are good moisturizers and lubricant in removing cradle cap (flakes in baby's
head) Best brand: Johnson's |
Petroleum Jelly | Bathing/Changing | Hospital/House | This
is also a good moisturizer and dead skin remover Best brand: Apollo |
Feeding Bottle | Feeding | Hospital/House | This
is necessary if the mom is attending something and the baby get to feed
breastmilk from the bottle Best brand: Avent |
Bottle Brush | Feeding | House | This
is practically being used to clean baby bottles Best brand: Avent |
Sterilizer | Feeding | House | This
is to avoid the hassle of boiling water and sterilizing the baby
bottles Best brand: Chicco |
Bottle Cleanser | Feeding | House | There
are cleansers that are edible to babies given their stomach
sensitivity. Best brand: Cradle |
Bottle dry rack | Feeding | House | These would be great to dry up bottles. No particular brand. |
Bassinet | Essentials | House | These can be easily outgrown so select only an affordable bassinet where baby can comfortably sleep at night. |
Baby Pillow | Essentials | House | Although this is not recommended since it will not enable the baby to move his/her head. It can promote a flat-headed baby. So pillows must be thin enough that baby can still move his/her head. Lampins are good pillows. |
Baby Bolster | Essentials | House | Bolsters are used to protect babies from rolling during early months. But parents must cautiously watch since these might cover the baby and cause suffocation. |
Baby Thermometer | Essentials | House | Thermometers
are must have since this is the first indicator if baby is having a fever.
Though this is already included in the baby kit provided by the hospital
during delivery. Best brand: Omron, Chicco |
Baby Books | Essentials | House | These are nice-to-haves only. |
Baby Laundry Soap | Essentials | House | Best brand: Cycles, Perla |
Camera | Essentials | House/Hospital/Going Out | This must not be forgotten in the baby getaway bag. You can request the nurse on duty in the delivery room if relatives are not allowed inside |
Cloth Diaper | Essentials | House | CDs
are definitely the new "IT" thing in the baby market with lots of
cute designs to choose from. Not only that it is economical, CDs are
environment-friendly and stylish. Best brand: Next9, Alva |
Baby Tub | Essentials | House | Baby's are very fragile and bathing them is the most scary thing to do (imho). But a good tub and lukewarm water could be an exciting experience for our little ones and in good occasions, these sessions could elicit contagious laughs from them. |
