Discovering Ilocandia Day 1: Welcome to Ilocos

Ilocos Region is gaining its ground as tourist mecca of people eyeing for the unusual vintage experience. If one wanted to mix history, culture, breathtaking sites and friendly atmosphere, Ilocos is the place to be.
Paoay Church, Ilocos Norte
Located at the northernmost part of Luzon, the Ilocos Region boasts of its natural beauty and heritage sites. For one, Vigan, the capital of Ilocos Sur is the sole World Heritage City acknowledged by UNESCO in the Philippines. Laoag City, the capital of Ilocos Norte also prides itself with the presence of Paoay Church, another world heritage site, and the famous Sand Dunes as among of its must-see spots.

Getting to the region is not a problem with lots of options to choose from. Travelers could opt to ride the bus which is about 6-8 hours travel time from Cubao, Manila or through one-hour flight from NAIA, Pasay to Laoag Airport. With the boosts on the number of tourists, the local government of Laoag, spearheaded by Governor Imee Marcos, has implemented a free shuttle ride from the airport to designated points in the city.
Why we chose Ilocos
We chose Ilocos to be the location of our prenuptial photoshoot for many reasons. First, the place was simply gorgeous and well-suited for our selected themes. Second, Ilocos is a tourist magnet with lots of places to go to. Third, we have our former boss, a connoisseur that could capture our moments as we envisioned it to happen. Fourth, due to the demands of the wedding preparation, we could no longer insert a vacation. So we decided that Ilocos is the best place where we can hold our prenuptial photoshoot and relax at the same time.
Day 1: Our Trip

We chose air travel to keep us fresh for the next day’s photoshoot. From the airport, we availed of the free shuttle and alighted at the Laoag Terminal bound for Vigan City. We are running against the clock since we learned that available bus travel to Vigan is until 11 PM only. Thank God we reached the terminal at 10 PM.

The approximate travel time to Vigan City is 2 hours. So we suggest that if you follow the same route, bring a pillow and blanket to keep you warm throughout the trip.
Bus from Laoag to Vigan
We arrived in Vigan at around midnight. From Vigan terminal, we were met by our former boss, Sir Robert, who will serve as host/official photographer during the entire Ilocandia photoshoot and tour.
